Yeah Bulldogs!!

"Our boys" did it!! The UNCA baseball team won their first game of the season yesterday beating Central Michigan 12-4. It is truly a huge win since we have gotten off to a little bit of a rocky start. I'm really happy for Boagie (as we call him) since he is a senior pitcher. He was the unfortunate one who had to pitch in cold conditions against Virginia Tech last Friday for opening day. He also pitched yesterday and had a much better outing since he told me that he could "actually feel the ball today".
We have had several guys out all week sick with the stomach bug, but they are willing to play with every bit of strength they have. So, maybe everything is coming together now. I am so very proud and so very relieved to get one in the win column. We have 3 more games this weekend (depending on the rain and snow)...hopefully we will be victorious again!!

Another busy weekend

We had another busy weekend!! I know...it seems that we ALWAYS have busy weekends...and we do. Our weekend began on Friday afternoon when Ava Grace and I went to meet our new cousin, Carson. We had a great visit with Lacey, Matt, and Carson!! She is so stinking cute!!! Even though Ava Grace is only 7 1/2 months old, it is hard to imagine that she was ever that small...WOW!! Ava Grace wasn't really sure about her mommy holding another baby. Lacey held Ava Grace while I held Carson. What she doesn't know is that she and Carson will probably grow up to be as wild and crazy as Lacey and I were as youngsters!! I'm not even going to elaborate on all of the fun that Lacey and I had growing up!! Anyway. Before we left, Ava Grace became fond of Carson as she wanted to constantly touch her head and her feet. Too cute!!

Ava Grace and I went to Spartanburg for the evening to meet Tim. Our boys (our UNCA baseball team) had their first game that afternoon. It wasn't pretty!!! They played Virginia Tech and lost 20-4. That evening we met up with Aunt Deb and Uncle Evan for dinner - sushi at their favorite restaurant Wasabi. It was great to visit with them and eat yummy sushi!! Tim and I always enjoy our sushi dates!! Uncle Evan entertained Ava Grace for a little while. She just loves him!!

Saturday began early with Tim, Ava Grace, and I eating breakfast at the hotel with our "boys" before their game. They had a double header against George Mason that day. It was quite the stressful morning with Tim leaving me at the hotel with no car keys!! I got the keys to load up everything and Ava Grace and I were off to meet Becca and JR for lunch. We intended to have a play date, but due to the key fiasco, lunch was all we managed to do. It was a fabulous time even though our visit was cut short!! Ava Grace and JR sat looking at each other throughout lunch. I think Ava Grace was trying to figure out who "that other baby" was!! As you read above, she isn't too sure about her mommy holding other babies, but she seemed rather content with JR being near. Maybe she has a crush.......time will tell. JR is a year old now and sooo adorable!! He is able to point and make a noise when he wants something. He chowed on his grilled cheese sandwich and drank all of his juice!! Good Boy!! We can't wait to see you again!!

After we left Becca and JR, we headed to the UNCA baseball games against George Mason. Pop Pop, Aunt Deb, Brittany, and Rebecca came to the games too. It is always so much fun to see them and visit!! We love our family so much!! Our nieces love Uncle Timmy and everyone (especially Meme and Pop Pop) loves coming to his baseball games. Unfortunately, our "boys" were unable to win either game they played against George Mason, but they did play a little better. Ava Grace took 2 naps and played while talking a lot at the ballgames. I think she enjoyed her first UNCA baseball experience. I think, despite the losses, Ava Grace brought a smile to Tim's face - how could you not smile at that cute little face?!?!?!

We had to bundle Ava Grace up as the wind became stronger. It didn't bother her though as you can tell. She will be attending many baseball games this season, so I am glad that her first trip to the field was a positive experience!!
It was a very big weekend, but lots of fun as always. We are looking forward to getting back to the upstate soon to visit with everyone!!

Bathtime and Bedtime

I have mentioned several times that Ava Grace's bath each night is so much fun. She kicks her legs and swings her arms excitedly when she hears the water running every night. She has really gotten into playing with toys in the bathtub - throwing them out one by one or banging them against the tub itself. She laughs and continues to make as much noise or splash as possible. Ava Grace would seriously stay in the tub all night if I would let her. I'm so glad that she enjoys getting a bath....I just hope it continues when she gets older (you know how little kiddos can be about bath time).

After bath time Ava Grace puts her pjs on, gets a story read, and goes to bed. Note the pjs in the picture....you guessed it....footy pajamas!! These were the "bomb" when I was little!! I slept in these every night - they were the greatest!! So, I LOVE the fact that I can dress my little girl in them when she sleeps at night. I don't think you ever really get too old for footy pajamas!!

7 months old

Ava Grace is 7 months old today!! WOW!! She continues to amaze us with all she is learning. In the last month, she has REALLY taking a liking to baby food - all flavors!! Yes, she eats it whether it is yellow, orange, or green. She will start the 2nd foods tomorrow which have some great fruit combinations that she is sure to love as well. Ava Grace is definitely talking more (I don't know where she gets that from) and trying to crawl. She has all of the motions, but can't quite understand how to put them together. It is amazing to watch her figure things out. She is really practicing her dexterity as she picks up Gerber puffs with her fingers. That isn't a mastered skill yet, but I am learning that if it involves food, she will find a way to get it in her mouth!! Ava Grace is consistently sleeping through the night - the WHOLE night!! That has been great since it is slowly helping me get healthy again from all of the sickness I have had. I'm sure there is so much more that she has accomplished within the last month, but since she seems to learn something new every day, it is hard to distinguish between months. Now, I completely understand why some of my parents at school cannot remember their child's developmental milestones when I have them fill out social/developmental histories for me.

I tried to add several pictures this week, but the blog wouldn't cooperate with me. So, I will put them all in this note. Here are some of the latest pictures of Ava Grace having play time with Daddy and just posing for the camera (she does this so well, don't you think?).

Too cool for school

Ava Grace is "too cool for school"!! I guess I am dating myself with quoting that phrase, but that is what I thought of when I took this picture of her the other night. I know I have mentioned before that Ava Grace absolutely loves taking a bath. She would stay in there until she is pruned if I would let her. She also really likes her duck bathtub!! She moves around in it A LOT and this is how she finished her bath the other night - just chilling!! How funny!! I just had to share this photo with you because it makes me laugh. Boy, do I wish I had time to enjoy a bath like this!!

It's a bird, It's a plane, It's SUPERGIRL!!!

Watching Ava Grace perform the act of Super Girl is really hysterical!! Ava Grace also loves to read!! We read books everyday or night before bedtime. Sometimes I will put her on the floor and let her explore the books by herself. When she gets wound up (usually when her Daddy gets home), she often acts like Super Girl. What I mean is....she lifts her legs and arms as if she is flying through the air and flails around vigorously. Tim and I can't help but laugh at her and in turn she smiles back which keeps us going. Maybe she will be a superhero one day...after all, I was Wonder Woman for homecoming my senior year of high school!!

Basketball and Birthday Fun

Ava Grace was worn out by Sunday night!! We had a big weekend!! Saturday began early as we traveled to Williamston, SC to see Luke (our nephew) play basketball. He has played in the Upward league this season and has really enjoyed it!! He plays so hard and is somewhat of a "bull in a china shop" while on the court. It was so fun to watch though!! Luke scored 2 baskets while we were there. Way to go, Luke!!

After the basketball game, Ava Grace and I got a tour of Williamston, SC. If you have ever been there or even know where it is, the tour didn't take real long. Williamston is a small town outside of Clemson and Anderson. Tim's family lived in Williamston until he was in middle school, so he considers himself a native . It was really neat to see the house that the Perry's lived in and to see some of their "old stomping grounds". Of course Ava Grace won't ever remember this trip, so I guess we will have to cruise through town again someday.

After the tour, we were off to Greenville for Rebecca's birthday party. Our youngest niece is turning 5 years old!! It is so hard to believe that she is growing up so fast. As parents we now understand how quickly the time goes by. Rebecca had her party at the Embassy Suites in Greenville. Believe it or not, all this little girl wanted to do was go swimming with a couple of her friends. Isn't that great?? The kiddos (including Ava Grace) got in the pool to swim for a while. Ava Grace had a blast!! She and her daddy played on a float and she kicked and splashed around. She LOVED it!! She even wore an old swimsuit of Rebecca's. Funny thing is...I don't remember Rebecca being that chunky in that bathing suit. Ava Grace's roly poly legs seemed enormous in the swimsuit. It didn't matter though...she was the cutest thing ever!! We all went to dinner that night and the 3 of us headed back up the mountain. So, needless to say, we were exhausted by the time we got home. It was such a fun day though!!!

Welcome to the family, Carson!!

Carson Ann Cobb made her debut this morning at 10:50 am!! She weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces and was 20 inches long. Lacey and Matt are beaming about their new addition!! We are so excited to have a new cousin in the family. Ava Grace is already scheduling play dates!! The two of them along with Callie are going to have a blast!! The new boy cousins (Davis, Fisher, and Campbell) are always invited too!!
Carson, we have been patiently waiting your arrival and can't wait to meet you!! We love you already!! Nice job, Lacey and Matt!! :)
